**NEW** Online COVID Screening
We are no longer doing our drive-thru Covid screening, however we do require ALL students to complete an online self assessment prior to EACH AND EVERY class. No one will be allowed into the building until their online form has been submitted. Face masks will remain mandatory until further notice.
Dance classes for ages 4 – Adult
Marquee offers a variety of dance styles for various age groups including ADULTS. We have 2 terms of classes throughout the school year. These classes are about improving technique. Not performance based. However, costume pieces are provided for any possible performances (decided among students and teacher together). Footwear for all dance classes are not included and are required for the classes.

A deposit is due at the time of registration and then the deposit is due before the first class. You may choose to pay in full by adding both the deposit and the balance to your cart before checking out.

Attire Requirements
Clothing: Form fitting, stretch fabric, all black is best. If you should run out of black (Laundry day), anything blank, dark and neutral on the bottom (ie. navy, grey, etc.) and blank, light and neutral on top (ie. white, tan, etc.). Please no logo’s unless it’s Marquee attire.
Tights are not required but please no loose pants since the instructor needs to see your leg lines. Leggings, fitted joggers (or jazz pants), even shorts are great alternatives to tights. Also, any coloured sweatshirts/sweaters/pants (if wearing shorts) are ok at the beginning of class once warm up is done. If you wish to keep something on, it should be black or dark neutral and as form fitting as possible.
Jazz Shoes: Slip on with a split sole. Click for examples OR Character Shoes (Your choice)
- The closest store to acquire your supply of dance attire is Gabie’s in Newmarket on Leslie St, just south of Green Lane. They usually have a great sale section and are very helpful.

Shoes: Slip on with a split sole. We prefer tan shoes because it will elongate the line when on stage in costume. Click for example.
A few notes:
- If your child currently has shoes that still fit, but don’t exactly match up – that’s ok (Only applicable if the STYLE of shoe matches ie. slip on, tie ups, Mary Janes). Dance shoes are expensive and we want you to get good use out of them. As long as you have the proper colour and style by the end of the year, that works for us. (Assuming we will have a recital – so hold on this purchase until we know more)
- Listen to the person fitting you! You want the shoes to feel snug to your foot. The leather will stretch with wear!
- Last class of every month, dance students can show off their favourite colourful pieces! (no logo’s please).

Age 11+ – Single, full sole tie up shoes for the older kids. Click for example.
Age 6-10 – Mary Janes for the younger ones. The MJ’s come in matte and patent finishes, matte black is preferred. Click for example.
* If some of the older kids in this group are wondering why, the MJs tend to be lighter and therefore easier for younger ones to pick up their feet.
**If they’re being picky about it > only if they already own tie ups, wearing them once in a while is ok but for stage everyone will wear MJs as it is part of an ensemble costume!
