Warming up before any rehearsal or performance is crucial. Sometimes it can feel like a tedious task,  but it is so important and there are so many ways to make it fun! Try adding a tongue twister or two to your warmup. Tongue twisters are a great way to improve pronunciation of words and stretch and strengthen your muscles before working on monologues, scenes, or songs. Here are some of our favourites!

Big Black Bug & Big Black Bear

A big black bug bit a big black bear,

She Sells Seashells

She sells sea shells by the sea shore.

The shells she sells are surely seashells.

So if she sells shells on the seashore,

I’m sure she sells seashore shells.

Toy Boat

Toy boat (say this 10 times)

Betty Botter

Betty Botter had some butter,

“But,” she said, “this butter’s bitter.

If I bake this bitter butter,

it would make my batter bitter.

But a bit of better butter–

that would make my batter better.”

or iron coffee pots

are of no use to me!

If I can’t have a proper cup of coffee

in a proper copper coffee pot,

I’ll have a cup of tea!
